Parenting: The Hardest Job in the World

At AllGoodDrivers we too are parents. We understand how difficult it can be to raise kids. We are not only providers, but we have to also be disciplinarians, friends, teachers, coaches, chauffeurs, doctors, spiritual leaders, and psychologists. As the children age and become teenagers none of it gets any easier. The thought of adding a new responsibility to your plate can be flat out overwhelming.
However, we are also professional driving instructors who have taught over 20,000 teens to drive. We know what it takes to make a successful teen driver, and the most important thing is parental involvement. Driving instructors have very limited exposure to your teens, and while many of them do a fantastic job with the time they have, if the teen is not practicing with their parent/guardian, then the efforts of the driving instructors may just be in vain. We can always tell a student who is not getting the practice they need, and it is one of the most frustrating and scary things about being a driving instructor. There is a reason why so many states are now requiring parents/guardians practice with there teens before they are eligible for a license.
Learning to drive does not lend itself well to learning by trial and error. It is the number one killer of people ages 2 through 35. There is no other activity that kills more people than driving. We feel strongly that driver education is the most important course your teen will ever take. Not only is it the most dangerous thing they will likely ever do, but it is a universal activity. That means that most adults will drive as part of there daily routine for most of there lives. It is a course that profoundly effects society as a whole and not just one individual. Driver education is not only about keeping your teen safe, but about keeping everyone who uses the roads safe. It is a matter of public safety for the most dangerous threat to our lives. As parents/guardians you are an indispensable part of any driver education course.
The purpose of the behind the wheel training with the driving instructors, and the practice with parents/guardians is to minimize learning by trial and error. With the help of driving instructors and you, your teen should be able to learn in a more controlled environment than if they were on there own. Many states are now making this a mandatory part of teen driver education. However these states do not seem to be offering much help to the parents who are supposed to be teachers in this process. You are told to do the time, but no one is telling what to do and how to do it. While you may be a good driver, teaching what you have learned to your teen is an entirely different process.

To those of you who are already tackling this task with confidence, we commend you and encourage you to keep up the good work. For the rest of you, we hope we can help to not only motivate you but give you the tools you need to be successful in teaching your teen this very important subject. Our online driver education courses are designed with you in mind. We not only give your teens the information they need, but we include parental involvement activities to help you get started teaching them. We also have a variety of products that will help make your time spent with your teen more productive, and less scary.
